CSD research focuses on sustainability and sustainable development from an interdisciplinary perspective. Currently, the center’s research priorities include the governance of SDGs, sustainable livelihoods, climate change, green economy, sustainable agriculture, sustainable finance, urban sustainability, population and development, gender, and human mobility. These research themes are organized under four clusters: 1) climate change and green economy; 2) sustainable cities and society; 3) population and human mobility; and, 4) SDGs governance. CSD envisages initiating and undertake collaborative research with national and international partners.
Climate Change and Green Economy focuses on climate change, vulnerabilities, disasters, +REDD, environment policy, and green infrastructure, circular economy, green development, sustainable finance, carbon economy and other related global environmental issues.
Sustainable Cities and Society focuses on human development, governance, (Including national, regional, local, and market), and policies (social, economic, and environment), on sustainable agriculture , poverty, food security , nutrition , food market system(local and international) , smart cities, sustainable urban governance, green urban planning, sustainable transportation , energy governance , waste management , green cities and global and local value chain.
Sustainable Development Goals focuses on 17 SDG goals. This research cluster exclusively focuses on 2030 global development agendas.
This cluster is aimed at promoting long-term economic well-being by maintaining a balance among economic growth, resource efficiency, social equity, and financial stability. It focuses on green economy, circular economy, creating the infrastructure for economic sustainability, green infrastructure, devising less wasteful system, community based sustainable development, sustainable agriculture (climate smart agriculture), sustainable tourism, sustainable industry and sustainable finance
Population and Mobility includes a range of issues including, but not limited to, demographic changes and composition vis-a-vis development; environmental behaviors of families and communities and changes purported by environmental circumstances; migration-environment linkages, gender and environment, gender and development..etc
